Your live event been cancelled? Three reasons why you should film it in a studio.

Right now, due to Covid-19 health precautions, shooting video can be tricky and most live events have either been cancelled, postponed or moved online.

So, another option is shooting your video or filming your event in a studio.

Clothesline have been doing a heap of studio shoots around Australia and overseas, due to Covid-19, whilst working remotely from our Melbourne office and we’re loving the results. So here are the benefits of filming your next video in a studio:

1. Studio are a contained and controlled space:

The biggest benefit of shooting in a studio as opposed to the outdoors is the control you have over every aspect of the video production. Outdoors you have to worry about interfering noises, temperature, wind, rain, and every other environmental variable that could be tossed your way. Even the light can be unpredictable. It can change from hard to soft with the movement of clouds, and on longer sets you can even run out of usable daylight.

Currently with the Covid-19 health restrictions in a studio we can make sure it’s a closed set: controlling who enters and who leaves the set. We’re able to check that everyone’s health is fine and we’re able to ensure that a minimal number of people are involved in the shoot. Keeping everyone safe and well.

2. You can film anywhere and do it remotely:

Clothesline have been shooting in studios all over Australia whilst producing from our office in Windsor. We have a large selection of broadcast studios around Australian that we can shoot in and access remotely and produce over zoom. So it doesn’t matter where your presenter is located or where your team is, we can create a broadcast quality video together.

How it works, we book the studio for you and organise all the crew. You organise the talent or presenter. We then put together a call sheet; a sheet that organises the day. You then tell your talent where to go and Clothesline produces the entire video shoot over zoom, which you can dial into, if you wish. The files are then sent to Clothesline and the edit is conducted in our studio in Melbourne.

3. Who doesn’t love to work in a comfortable spot?

You know what’s not great when you’re filming a video? Heat, weird noises, mosquitos, changing light. You know what is great though? A private area where you can sit, make a coffee and watch your presenter on a monitor.

Using a studio for your video production comes with some pretty great creature comforts. There is usually a kitchen where you can make coffee and reheat some food. Studios are usually located close to restaurants where food and drink is readily available. Most places are climate controlled too so you can dial in the exact temperature you want.

The bottom line is that renting a studio offers you a comfortable location where your mind can stay focused on producing quality work without any outside distractions. All members of the crew can stay comfortable the entire day.
