How to find your perfect audience?

When you’re scrolling through your feed, what do you like to watch? Long videos? Short videos? Those oddly-satisfying ASMR videos of soap cutting?

Knowing who you’re talking to (and what they like) is important to keep in mind when creating video content, so that whatever you make is engaging to that audience.

Audiences can inform the style, format and length of video content, the tone of voice, the final posting location, and more. So, if you know what your viewers like, you’ll be able to better use your time and money on something that you know will get views and engagements.

To help narrow down who you’re talking to, ask yourself questions like:

  • Are they male or female?

  • How old are they?

  • Where do they live?

  • What types of content are they watching?

  • What do they like?

  • Where do they watch video content? YouTube? TV? Instagram? Twitch? TikTok?

(If you’re not sure, do some research and ask members of your ideal audience)

Once you’re confident in who you’re talking to, go forth and make some content that you know your viewers will really love.
